the Erg Chebbi dunes
The Erg Chebbi dunes near the little town of Merzouga (Morocco) are renowned for their great height and size. This dunes are a strikingly strange natural formation. On the top of the flattest area you could imagine, suddenly a long mountain of sand rises. This mountain is surrounded by flat and desolate nature on all sides, and you could end up wondering if it really is real. This vast pile of sand that stretches east into the Algerian Sahara has dunes that reach heights upwards of 50 meters. 1996-07-23.
