The Empire State Building in New York City (NY; USA) is a legend. Built in the midst of the Depression, it was, and still remains a testament to American fortitude and ingenuity. William Lamb, an architect at the firm Shreve, Lamb & Harmon, was chosen to design the Empire State Building. Constructed in eleven months, the 1250-foot Empire State Building, the world's tallest skyscraper from 1931 to 1971, was a marvel of modern engineering. 2003-08-12.
